As one of the pioneers of neo-impressionism, his music is being appreciated worldwide. He lives a simple life and portrays that simplicity in his music
and the peace and healing it offers to every heart and soul.
Subhash Sarkar was born into a musical family in India. He received his early training from his brother. After receiving his doctorate in engineering from University
of California, Subhash Sarkar pursued his musical career, studying with Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh and Zakir Hussein. His compositions are poetic and
his accompaniment precise. He has accompanied many renowned artists visiting the United States and Europe in the past 25 years. He has performed with Roop Verma and many versatile artists in many countries and has recorded many albums together with Roop Verma.
Tracy Verma has a strong background in Western music and an engineering degree from the University of Vermont. Her love of music has found expression in her consistent participation in and occasional formation of singing groups. She was the founder of the Sacred Harp Singers in Burlington, Vermont. After moving to Oneonta, she envisioned a girls' choir in the region, which ultimately became a reality when she founded the Catskill Choral Society Girl
choir in 1998. She currently sings with the Catskill Choral Society and the Catskill Chamber Singers.
Tracy has studied Indian music with her husband Roop for many years and percussion with Pandit Sharda Sahai. Tracy plays the specially designed 5-String Bass Tamboura in this concert.
